A good reference photo is crucial for a beautiful painting.
For house portraits, take the photo on a sunny or partly-cloudy day with good lighting and a quality camera (most modern phone cameras are good). I can work with most photos, but the angle of the house and overall scene will be based on the reference photo.
For bouquet paintings, it is helpful for me to see the entire wedding gallery so that I can look at different options for the reference photo! I also am sometimes able to combine two photos for the bouquet to get the best angle.
Yes, I am able to make minor adjustments to things in the reference photo, such as filling in greenery, adding in bird feeders or other decorations, or adjusting colors. I will send you pictures of my sketch before I start painting if you are modifying anything, to make sure it is just right!
Expect a 4-8 week process to allow for sketching, proofing, and painting time.
Watercolor commissions start at $165 for an 8×10 in and $230 for 11×14 in, but please fill out an inquiry form to get an official quote. Final price will be based on the type of painting, size, level of detail, etc.
At this time I am not accepting portrait commissions or commissions with people in them, as my personal style is focused on architecture and florals. Because I want you to have the best piece possible, I will not take on projects that lie outside of my specialty within the watercolor field.
Yes, with your permission, I might post content from the process and the final painting. If the commission is a gift, I will of course wait until it is given to post anything.
