I’ve been coming to Midnight Oil since I was 13, and I have always loved seeing the artwork displayed there. Getting to work on this mural for this place I hold so close to my heart was so much fun and such an honor.
I specifically wanted to paint these bright flowers because I think of them as bright and powerful and growing, which is something that I struggled to feel like in the past year. 2020 was tough for all of us, but we’re still here, and we’re all still growing. I want this work to remind people that growing through struggles is possible, and to be a manifestation of joy in a tough year.
